This program is intended to give students entry-level skills in the following areas:
Computer Application – This introductory course will teach students how to use word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software. Topics include creating business letters, business memos, elementary spreadsheets, and slide presentations. Students will have hands-on experience using Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Accounting 1 – This course introduces basic accounting principles and procedures as it progresses through the accounting cycle for a service based business. Students become familiar with basic financial reports such as the Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Statement of Owner’s Equity, and Statement of Cash Flows. Focus is on accounting procedures and theory. This course is offered with concurrent enrollment through WCCC as BUS 140. Accounting 2 - This class will review fundamental accounting concepts and principles through the use of the QuickBooks Online (QBO) application and the analysis of business events. Upon successful completion, students will know how to set up QBO for a business, use it to record business events, and use it to generate financial statements.
Desktop Publishing – This class will provide students with the opportunity to learn the use of desktop publishing techniques to enhance business and personal documents. Using Adobe InDesign and Photoshop software, students will complete hands-on tasks producing professional documents such as programs, brochures, newsletters.
Business Math – This class will have students develop computational skills they will need to be successful in the world of business along with a better understanding of business concepts and situations. Business concepts covered in this class include but are not limited to bank services, payroll, taxes, insurance, and mathematics of buying and selling. This course is offered with concurrent enrollment through WCCC as MAT 112. Recommended Academic Courses and Skills:
