CDL Truck Driving

Instructor: TBD
For the 2022-2023 school year, we will not be offering CDL Truck Driving.
This program provides the classroom theory and driving experience required by the Maine State Department of Motor Vehicles and the Professional Truck Drivers Institute (PTDI) to qualify a driver to sit for the Commercial Truck Driver Class A license (CDL) test.

The major areas of study include: a thorough in-depth knowledge of the PTDI text "Trucking - Tractor Trailer Driver Handbook," classroom instruction in subject matter related to Class A driving, laboratory exercises covering tractor trailer maintenance, repair industry technology and small business training, behind the wheel-range and behind the wheel-road driving time.

Requirements:  Students must have documented proof of good health and driving record. The student will also possess a developed sense of career goals, adequate academic preparation and subject schedules that support graduation plans. Students will go through an application and interview process to enter this program.

Seventeen-year-old students must complete a drivers' education course prior to enrolling. Eighteen-year-old students may enroll in the CDL program, but must complete a drivers' education course before sitting for the CDL test.
